2016 City Charter Review
The City Charter is the constitution or framework under which Youngstown’s municipal government functions. It was first approved by city voters on May 15, 1923.
Section 2 of the Charter states:
"A Charter Review Committee will be convened by the Mayor every four years to review and consider recommending amendments to the Charter."
The Charter Review Committee exists strictly as an advisory board and nothing more. It considers if anything in the City's document of self-governance could use a change, and then passes along those recommendations to Youngstown City Council.
The Charter Review Commission will meet Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Covelli Centre until July 26, 2016.
